Yet another art trade! And again, for Rynnie!

This is what happens when one watches Francis Ford Coppola's version of Dracula and the recent Phantom of the Opera films back-to-back, after having agreed to an art trade, on a boring Friday. (Interest in clothes of day gone by doesn't help.)

The Champs-Élysées is frequently described as la plus belle avenue du monde, the most beautiful street in the world. In Victorian times, people at all hours of the day and night would come to see and be seen -- and the greater the sights the better. Men's clothing was sober, but closer inspection would reveal silk toppers, polished leather shoes, silver and gold-tipped canes, jackets and coats draped just so and crafted from the finest materials. It fell to the women to show off the wealth with riotous bustle gowns of every shade of colour, jewels peeping from every concievable place, lacy or silken parasols to shade fair skin, dainty gloves and spectacular hats adding that last touch of grandeur.

Dominique Dubois and Morgan Mizuhara are NOT about to look shabby in the streets of Paris.

But then, who in their right mind would?
